New Public Art in Baghdad

Public art is starting to show up in Baghdad, on blast walls that protect buildings from bombings. Prreviously the only public art in the country was portraits of Saddam, this is a great step towards the true reconstruction of Iraq. Click over to the BBC to see some of the images.

For some reason art in the midst of violence conjures the image of the Phoenix to me, hopefully an appropriate metaphor for Iraq.
