My (Short) Observations on the State of the Union speech

Bush = good, Democrats = bad. ;)

While true, its not really that simple. The President took a well-deserved, but short, victory lap on the success of late in Iraq then moved right into the future of his Presidency. While the Inauguration address was sweeping and grand in its vision, this speech had a practical, policy minded approach. Social Security will be a big fight, his proposals got jeers from the donks at one point. This fight will be big and nasty, but I think we can get this done -- and we have to, it is too important.

But one of the things which really disappoints me is the current views and tactics of the Democratic party. Their party has became one of blind opposition, petty politics, and obstruction. If they don't change this in 2006 we will see an even bigger Republican majority.

  • Yeah Bush took a victory lap. A $40M victory lap. Why is it ok for him to trow 10 parties to celebrate his re-election, when we have kids DYING in Iraq for lack of equipment. When Roosevelt was re-elected during wartime, he threw a very small gathering, serving chicken salad. He knew better than to showboat. This is a great example why so many European contries think he is a schmuck. He is a liar and a cheat. I have no respect for him, and I am ashamed that he calls himself a Texan. I do not understand how anyone can support that man. Support the troops, yes. The person that sent them there? No freaking way. He is a redneck with an education. Narrow-minded, arrogant, and convinced he is right.

  • Wow, you've got the MoveOn.org talking points down to a T.

    First, when FDR threw his famous "chicken salad" innaugural he was in a wheel chair and the country did not know it. He was trying to make sure it did not get out, he did not want to appear weak to our enemies at the time.

    Second, the innauguration parties are funded privately. I am really not surprised you are upset, the Left does not think individuals know how to spend their own money so of course you don't like it.

    Third, what do you think Kerry would have done? Served cold cuts in the Rose Garden and got right to work? HA! Not hardly. You guys would have partied harder than anyone, and don't think Soros all of the other liberal money men wouldn't have ponied up just as much.

    Get over it, you lost. The majority of Americans don't agree with you, and the petty bomb-throwing is just making you all look irrelevant and mean-spirited. Oh wait, you already are...

  • P.S. I could honestly care less what the Europeans think of us.
