Budget Deficit shrinking?

Blogs for Bush has noted that according to the Treasury Department the budget deficit is shrinking. They also point to this as a fulfillment of the promise of supply-side economics.
How is it that President Bush cut taxes, but tax revenues are increasing? That doesn't make intuitive sense, does it? This simplistic thinking by liberals is what prevents them from understanding how supply-side economics works, and they do work.

We just need to keep our focus and keep control of Congress in 2006 & 2008 and the White House in 2008, only in that way can we get our country back on track. Free market economics will rule the day, if we let them.

  • This was the subject of a recent piece by Kudlow in the National Review. However, this is not the whole story. The fact is, the deficit and individual income tax receipts have just begun to recover from their lows reached in late 2003 and early 2004. The only "roaring" to be heard has been in spending and, to a lesser extent, those receipts whose tax rates have not been cut. See the full analysis of Kudlow's article at http://home.att.net/~rdavis2/kudlow3.html.
