Get this quote out to all the teachers you know...

Q: You'd be different from Laura Bush?

A: Well, you know, I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good. But I don't know that she's ever had a real job — I mean, since she's been grown up. So her experience and her validation comes from important things, but different things. And I'm older, and my validation of what I do and what I believe and my experience is a little bit bigger — because I'm older, and I've had different experiences. And it's not a criticism of her. It's just, you know, what life is about.

Hmmm, so I guess that NEA is pissed in light of the contributions (illegal) it has given to the DNC and Democratic campaigns.

Everyone who has teachers that you know and love should let them know their union dues are going to a candidate whose own wife thinks that teachers and school librarians don't have "real" jobs. Of course public education has probably never meant anything to her or her family anyway.

UPDATE: To be fair, an apology was issued by Ms. Heinz-Kerry. You can see it here. I am still not anymore pleased with the situation, with the scrutiny that is placed on a candidate's personal lives these days, and the opposition research that goes on, I find it hard to believe that she simply forgot.
