CBS News caught again with their pants down

CBS was planning on running a 60 Minutes story that was characterized as "explosive" about the missing munitions in Iraq. The Drudge Report says that 60 Minutes executive producer, Jeff Fager, said "our plan was to run the story on October 31". And, according to Drudge, "It is not clear who exactly shopped an election eve repackaging of the missing explosives story."

Blogs for Bush points out that this is clearly an attempt by the Democrats at an "October Surprise", but something seems to have gotten in the way -- the truth. This does have the markings of a behind-the-scenes Democratic co-ordination. CBS News and the NY Times? Are there any news outlets in the country that are more reliably liberal? In addition, the very next day the story was a headliner in Kerry's stump speeches. Combine that with the clear implication in the Drudge story that someone was "shopping" this repackaging of old news, and you have a pretty clear picture.

Thank God NBC had someone on the scene, this absolutely clear proof was exactly what was needed to foil the Democrat's October Lie.

UPDATE: Power Line has a good take, along with some good links, on the consistent pattern of the NY Times acting a a shill for the Left.
